Don't ask me how I know, had to have aluminum adapter plate, flywheel flex plate and torque convertor replaced because of torque convertor bolts coming loose ...

I know it’s an old thread, but the L5P in the 2020 is the noisiest, most unpleasant Duramax to date. The thumping, ticking, screeching, and what I’m assuming is injector knock, is almost Unbearable. Been in 3 different 2020’s and besides when mine melted down a dpf, I’ve yet to hear a quieter Dmax from factory.

It has started making a clicking/ticking sound that can be heard in the cab pretty good and once window is rolled down, it is even louder. It sounds like it is coming from the rear end or bed area. RPOs: LBZ, LB7, LLY, LMM. When the engine is fired up cold it sounds perfect, but once it gets to about 140-150 the noise starts and seems to correlate to oil pressure, eg. once the rpm is above 1200 the majority of it goes away. I noticed a very slight ticking noise when I test drove it, but it was so slight that I wasn't worried about it. I've put 800 trouble free miles on it in the last two weeks, but the tick gradually got louder over the last two days, and today- got loud enough that I got under the hood to look for what I thought sounded like an exhaust leak.
