Duramax L5P Engine Failures. I am not suggesting that there is any problem (s) with the 2017 to current L5P Durmax Engines. I am curious owning a 2021 L5P myself if anyone has had any serious issues with this engine. In doing research I find problems like NOX Sensors, DEF heaters / tanks, and injector electrical plugs, but that is about it.

The L5p was a very small exhaust side configuration, small up pipes, small exhaust turbo vanes, etc. So I am guessing the ECM was seeing some very high EGT’s and cut power to keep from melting pistons. I had set the trip odometer the day I bought it and it's averaging almost 17, including some mild camper towing. Tank to tank I'm seeing better than 18 with regens.Pulling about 6500 lbs through the mountains at ~65 MPH I was getting about 8.5 MPG with a dodge hemi.
